The double nature of man

It struck me one day
how the role we men play
is made out of two contradictions:

On one hand we do
without further ado
the role found in stories of fiction

It's one that seems
to by any means
play the lonely wolf in the forest

Also one who takes
a drink for the sake
of being with himself the closest

On the other we have
a need to play the lad
who use jokes as means of apprehending

He plays the fool
with his smile as a tool
to get attention never ending

Now, this might seem
like a real clever scheme
and a way to play the game of life boldly

But when all's said and done
and the man comes around
nobody wants to be lonely

Very nicely put, couldn't have said it better myself. Did you write this Peter? The rythm of it kind of reminded me of a poem collection by Tim Burton I once bought for my dad. Thought honestly this piece has a lot more seriousness to it than any of the ones in that Burton collection. If I could just remember the name of it.. it had funny pictures too..

Oh here it is! "The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy: and Other Stories". I recommend it!

Seems cool! On Burton you can rely, at least when it comes to creative things.

Yes, I actually wrote it but I'm not sure why. I guess I've always liked the limits and borders that verse add, because for me limitations are necessary for true creativity.

Give me a piece of paper and I'll draw you a picture, give me infinite space and I'll spend my life figuring out where to begin.
